Report: Newcastle now enquire about ‘devastating’ World Cup ace, he’s a great alternative to Maddison

Newcastle United have made enquiries into Ghana international Mohammed Kudus, after impressing at the World Cup.

That’s what’s reported by 90min. They claim the Magpies join the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham as the Premier League clubs interested in securing his signature.

This comes after a number of standout performances in Qatar, which have alerted teams to the Ajax youngster.

Back in April 2020, Ghanasoccernet claimed that the incoming Toon owners wanted to bring Kudus to the club. However, that wasn’t possible after the takeover was put on hold. Once the takeover had gone through and the club had reignited their interest, he had already made the move to the Netherlands.

At the beginning of the season, the 22-year-old was struggling to make it into Ajax’s starting XI. However, as the World Cup neared, he became more of a regular.

The attacking-midfielder really impressed in the Champions League, scoring in consecutive games against Rangers, Liverpool and Napoli.

Kudus received huge plaudits for his goal against the Reds. BT pundit Rio Ferdinand labelled it a ‘devastating finish’, whilst Thierry Henry claimed he is ‘living the dream’.

Whilst not exactly the same, the youngster plays a similar position to Toon transfer target James Maddison.

Both players are deemed to be incredible playmakers, with technical footwork and great vision helping their sides in more ways than one going forward.

With the England international priced at £60m, Kudus could be a much cheaper option to bring in. However, this isn’t to say he wouldn’t be anywhere near as good, as his performances for Ghana recently have highlighted his fantastic potential.
