Newcastle United are one of the clubs that could save Jadon Sancho this summer.
That is according to reports that claim Newcastle United are interested in Jadon Sancho alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
The 25-year-old winger is returning to Manchester United after Chelsea decided against signing him permanently for £25million, but he does not have a future at Old Trafford either.
Sancho needs to find a new home, and St James’ Park has been suggested as a possible destination. That has not enthused supporters, with Newcastle fans against signing Sancho from Man United.

Newcastle United target Jadon Sancho enraged Alan Shearer
That feeling might be shared by Alan Shearer based on what he said about the England international three years ago.
In October 2022, Manchester United and Newcastle United played out a 0-0 draw. The game was dominated by multiple penalty appeals, with Callum Wilson denied what appeared to be a blatant spot-kick in the first half.
Man United also had penalty appeals waved away, one of which came when Sancho went down in the area. A coming together with Sean Longstaff resulted in a theatrical jump in the air, as the Man United players desperately begged for a penalty.
Craig Pawson and VAR said no, while Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer made his feelings clear on X (formerly known as Twitter).
He posted during the game: “Keep on f…. Diving you might get one eventually!!!”
Why Jadon Sancho to Newcastle United transfer feels unlikely
It would be a major surprise if Newcastle do sign Sancho from Manchester United. While the Magpies are in the market for a winger, he does not tick the right boxes for Eddie Howe.
A key issue is the fact that he predominantly plays on the left of attack, rather than the right. Newcastle United already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes competing on that side of the pitch, so the last thing Howe needs is a fourth option.
Neither Gordon nor Barnes wants to shift to the right, so signing a third winger whose preferred side is the left would be a huge mistake. During his career, Sancho has started 176 games on the left and 114 on the right.
Another big problem would be Sancho’s wages. He earns £300,000-a-week at Manchester United, which is almost double what Newcastle United’s highest earner Bruno Guimaraes gets.
Bryan Mbeumo’s wage demands are too high for Newcastle, so it is difficult to envision it not being an issue with Sancho as well.
