Newcastle United will not want another major departure in 2026 like they endured with Alexander Isak.
It was the saga of the summer, ending on deadline day with Alexander Isak joining Liverpool for a British record fee of £125million.
Newcastle United received a huge sum of money for a player who pushed desperately to leave St James’ Park. Ever since that moment, Isak has struggled.
That is not the Magpies’ problem, with Eddie Howe and co now focused on ensuring the rest of the club’s major stars remain at St James’ Park.
That will be tough given the amount of quality they possess, with Tino Livramento’s long-term Toon future very much up in the air.

How much is Tino Livramento really worth?!
Tino Livramento valued at more than £100m
Tino Livramento was a target for Manchester City during the summer, but they were unable to strike a deal for the England international. Newcastle United had no interest in selling, and that stance is likely to continue into 2026.
The 23-year-old is a massively important player for Eddie Howe, and a new report from the Athletic has detailed exactly how much it might cost to get him away from St James’ Park.
According to the Athletic, it would take an offer of more than £100million to tempt Newcastle United into selling Livramento.

That would represent a huge profit for a player who arrived from Southampton for £32million in 2023. In terms of PSR, it would be considered great business.
From a footballing perspective, Newcastle will be doing whatever it takes to keep Livramento away from Manchester City or any other suitor.
Newcastle United must push for Tino Livramento contract extension
The one way Newcastle United can protect Livramento’s value and keep him on Tyneside is by handing him a new contract.
What do you make of Tino Livramento’s comments when asked about his Newcastle United future?
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle want Livramento to sign a new deal, with his current one set to expire in 2028. It is vitally important that Ross Wilson gets the defender to put pen to paper on a new contract, otherwise there will be fears of another Isak situation.
In a recent interview, Livramento confirmed he loves playing for Newcastle United, and that will hopefully lead to him extending his stay in the North East.
“I’m in a position where I’m trusted by the manager, the players,” he said.
“I feel loved by the fans too. I love pulling on the black and white shirt.”
