It feels like transfer deadline day is going to be all about outgoings for Newcastle United.
There is seemingly no money left to spend, which means there is unlikely to be a fifth senior arrival at St James’ Park.
However, players will certainly be on the way out, and the biggest name who is being linked with a move away from Newcastle is Matt Targett.
The left-back has been the subject of interest from Fulham and Nottingham Forest, but moves from both clubs have been rebuffed by the Magpies.
Eddie Howe wants to keep the 27-year-old on Tyneside. However, Targett is less certain about his future and is reportedly open to a move away. If that is going to happen, it needs to happen fast, and it sounds like his representatives are working towards that end.

Matt Targett’s agents looking towards Newcastle exit on deadline day
According to the Chronicle, Targett’s representatives are looking to secure a loan move for their client on transfer deadline day.
It has previously been claimed that Targett is frustrated at the club, and it is easy to understand why. Things have not gone to plan since he became a permanent Magpie last summer for £15million.
Injury and the form of Dan Burn has meant that Targett has struggled for minutes, while he now has more competition following the arrival of Lewis Hall.
In that respect, it is easy to see why the defender is considering a temporary exit.

But the injury to Sven Botman, while it might not be as serious as first feared, shows that Targett has an easy route back into the side if he bides his time. On top of that, Newcastle will need to rotate more due to the increased volume of games.
Not only are we going to be playing more games, but we are playing more games against top class opposition after being drawn against PSG, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in the Champions League.
Targett will get minutes this season if he stays, but that is not a guarantee on transfer deadline day.
