Chelsea are well placed to benefit if Newcastle United complete a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
The Magpies are in talks to bring the 24-year-old to St James’ Park, with Marc Guehi keen to sign for Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe has refused to comment on Newcastle’s interest in Guehi, but there is hope that the centre-back will end up on Tyneside very soon.
Crystal Palace have rejected Newcastle’s first bid for Guehi, but a second should be on its way. That will hopefully open the door for the England international to move up north, as Toon officials prepare to potentially break the club’s transfer record.

Guehi could end up costing Newcastle around £65million, which would hand Crystal Palace a healthy profit.
They signed him for £18million in 2021 from Chelsea, and his valuation now is a testament to how well he has done at Selhurst Park.
But a slice of what Palace receive will quickly be snatched away, as Chelsea included a 20% sell-on clause when they agreed to let Guehi leave Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are in line to receive 20% of whatever profit Crystal Palace make, and now they could end up making even more money from Newcastle’s pursuit of Guehi.

That is because Crystal Palace will be looking for another centre-back to replace Guehi if he leaves Selhurst Park.
Palace have been linked with Maxence Lacroix, but now another target has emerged.
According to the Telegraph, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is an option to replace Guehi if he leaves the club.
They report that the Blues want £25million for Chalobah, who is surplus to requirements under Enzo Maresca.
That could result in Chelsea inadvertently making even more money out of Guehi possibly signing for Newcastle United. They will be begging the Magpies to finalise a deal, as it could end up giving them a massive financial boost heading into the final few weeks of the summer transfer window.
But that is none of Newcastle’s business. Their main concern is bringing in a right-sided centre-back who can be Fabian Schar’s long-term successor. They need someone to partner Sven Botman in the future, and Guehi looks like the perfect player to do just that.
If that results in Chelsea profiting then lucky them.
