A dramatic transfer window has now come to an end for Newcastle United.

Alexander Isak’s departure for Liverpool will clearly take many of the headlines but it’s been a busy summer of incomings too at Newcastle United.

Yes, Newcastle have missed out on some high profile targets this summer. Still, they end the transfer window in a reasonably healthy position.

Yoane Wissa became the club’s sixth major signing of the summer. The Brentford forward followed Nick Woltemade, Jacob Ramsey, Malick Thiaw, Aaron Ramsdale and Anthony Elanga through the door at St James’ Park.

They give manager Eddie Howe some brilliant options in the Newcastle United squad.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the best XI available to the Newcastle United manager now.

Newcastle United’s best XI after 2025/26 summer transfer window

Such was the quality in the Newcastle first-team, there didn’t need to be too many changes.

This summer was all about adding depth as Howe looks to compete across domestic competitions and the Champions League

Later, it became about how to replace Isak adequately.

Frankly, Newcastle’s best XI does not look too dissimilar to last season’s. Nick Pope continues in goal for now, while the back four speaks for itself.

Sven Botman could probably push for a start but will first need to prove his long-term fitness. Thiaw, for now, looks like more of a back-up player.

There isn’t any need for change in the midfield, either. Ramsey strengthens that position but does not look likely to start on a regular basis anytime soon.

Then there’s the striker position. Howe is excited to work with Woltemade but, for now at least, Wissa looks the safer bet.

Having paid so much for the German, it seems reasonable to assume that Newcastle view Woltemade as Isak’s replacement. Still, in the short-term, Wissa looks the more logical player to lead the line.

Anthony Gordon is suspended for the next two games but will return after that.

Newcastle United actually got what they wanted this summer

There have been blows this summer, there’s little doubt about that. Newcastle have watched high profile targets move elsewhere, while their star player in Isak left the club.

However, Newcastle wanted to make four signings this summer. They’ve ended up getting six, with Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson and Isak all replaced.

There’s real strength in depth now, even if keeping Isak would have been preferable.

On paper, Newcastle appear to have a much stronger squad than they did last season. Is it perfect? No.

Still, there are plenty of reasons to be excited.
