Newcastle United have to put Alexander Isak and Liverpool on hold after new development

Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United, but that does not necessarily mean that he will.

The decision rests with Newcastle United, who have got Alexander Isak under contract until 2028.

Newcastle will decide Isak’s next move, as reinforced by Eddie Howe during the Magpies’ pre-season trip to Asia. That is a pre-season trip that Isak is not on, lest we forget.

As Liverpool prepare their opening Isak bid, the Magpies are weighing up their options. One of those options is agreeing to sell the Swedish superstar and buying a suitable replacement.

Newcastle want Benjamin Sesko to fill that role, but the current mood is that he is not heading to St James’ Park.

Newcastle United cannot sell Alexander Isak after Benjamin Sesko claim

It has been reported that Newcastle do not expect to sign Sesko. Instead, the belief is that he will end up a Manchester United player.

That is extremely bad news for Howe, who is in desperate need of a striker.

However, it could be even worse news for Liverpool and Isak.

That is because there is simply no way that Newcastle United and PIF can sanction Isak’s departure without an adequate replacement lined up. It would be self-sabotage if they did that.

Understandably, Newcastle do not want to sell Isak. However, it might be for the best. He does not want to be at the club, while the money they will get will allow for serious reinvestment.

However, that argument breaks down if a top level striker is not able to move to St James’ Park this summer. Sesko would fall into that bracket, while the same would have gone for Hugo Ekitike or Joao Pedro if they had joined.

But with Sesko suddenly not expected to go to Newcastle, there is no way that Isak can be allowed to leave.

That is a shame for the player, but perhaps he should have pushed for this move away from St James’ Park earlier in the summer.

Alexander Isak has contract ‘agreement’ with Liverpool

As Newcastle United ponder how to solve their Isak problem, a fresh claim from Germany makes for very interesting reading.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the 25-year-old has already reached an ‘agreement’ over personal terms to move to Liverpool.

It is claimed that Isak has agreed a six-year deal with the Reds that will see him earn similar money to what Hugo Ekitike is on at Anfield.

It has been reported that Ekitike is earning between £250,000-a-week and £267,000-a-week at Liverpool.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Isak wanted £300,000-a-week at Newcastle, which shocked Toon officials.
