Newcastle United and Eddie Howe are going to be able to splash the cash in the summer.
While Newcastle will not have a limitless transfer budget, they are in a much stronger position on the back of the January transfer window.
Newcastle have boosted their PSR position by selling Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly, while the risk in not immediately signing any replacements will result in the Magpies having more capacity to invest in the summer.
It remains to be seen who Eddie Howe’s top targets will be. Newcastle have three priority positions, with Paul Mitchell set to bring in a winger, striker and centre-back.

Newcastle United to be offered Victor Boniface
The striker will likely be the most difficult to obtain, as the Magpies are looking for a player who will be Alexander Isak’s understudy.
But there are options out there, with Newcastle set to be offered Victor Boniface.
The forward looks set to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and it has been claimed that he would be open to a move to Tyneside.
This comes after he nearly changed clubs in January. Al-Nassr verbally agreed a £50million deal to sign Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, only for the Saudi Pro League side to bring in Jhon Duran from Aston Villa instead.
Interestingly, Al-Nassr are one of the Saudi Arabian clubs owned by PIF.
Why Newcastle United fans will hope Victor Boniface does not sign for the Magpies
The 24-year-old is an exceptional striker. He has got 10 goals in 18 appearances this season, while the 2023/24 campaign ended with him boasting a tally of 21 goals in 34 games.
Signing him would strengthen this Newcastle United squad, but any kind of Toon approach should be met with concern from supporters.
If Boniface were to join Newcastle United, he would not be joining as a backup. He would not leave a major club like Bayer Leverkusen to be second choice behind Alexander Isak.
If Newcastle do decide to move for Boniface or any other player of his calibre, it should set alarm bells ringing over the future of Isak. It would surely hint that the Sweden international is going to depart, which is every Toon fan’s worst nightmare.
Boniface would be a great replacement for Isak, but Newcastle fans do not want a replacement to arrive. All they want is for Isak to remain on Tyneside.
That is hopefully what will happen, as Newcastle aim to hand Isak a new contract.
While Boniface is a very talented forward, a striker as good as him will not arrive at St James’ Park as long as Isak is still at the club.
