Newcastle United target Darwin Nunez’s Benfica have been drawn against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Benfica stunned Ajax on Tuesday night to seal a 3-2 aggregate win and get into the last eight of Europe’s biggest club competition.
Nunez got the winner 13 minutes from time and that has helped set up a huge clash for Benfica and their players.

The £67 million rated striker will leave Benfica this summer and doing the business against one of the best sides in Europe would only boost his reputation.
If some of Europe’s biggest clubs keep sniffing around, then Newcastle may find it hard to get their man when the summer transfer window opens.
But this is a chance for Newcastle to see if he can do the business against English opposition, on the biggest club stage of them all.

It has already been reported that Newcastle are going to go back in for him during Eddie Howe’s first summer window in charge at St James’ Park.
Newcastle still need improvements to their squad and a reliable goalscorer to add to the squad would be a massive help – even though it would not be cheap.
Getting Nunez would be a huge statement of intent – especially if he has played a part in dumping Liverpool out of Europe against the odds.
