Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle are going to sign Joao Pedro, while others aren’t so sure.

The transfer expert claimed on Monday night that the Magpies have agreed a £30million deal with Watford and that the 20-year-old will sign a six-year deal at St James’ Park.

It was exciting news, then came the counterclaims. Floods of other reporters were quick to state that they don’t think a deal has been agreed with the Hornets.

Eddie Howe also reinforced this, stating in his press conference before Tranmere that a deal for Pedro wasn’t finalised.

But Romano is yet to revoke his claim, suggesting he is standing by what he has said.

Regardless, the Brazilian is yet to be announced as a Newcastle player. Until then, fans will always remain sceptical.

Hopefully a deal is announced soon, especially with interest emerging from elsewhere.

Everton now want to sign Joao Pedro as well

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are also interested in the South American striker. They have reportedly contacted Watford, and are willing to match what Newcastle are offering.

That means it could be a straight decision between Newcastle and Everton for Pedro. Who will he join?

It’s been reported that he is keen to move to Tyneside and link up with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, but you can’t put it past Everton throwing money at their problem and offering him a higher wage.

For Newcastle, we need to make sure it doesn’t come to that. The Toffees are yet to make an official offer for Pedro, meaning we need to conclude this deal as soon as possible before they do. We can’t afford for him to change his mind and move to Goodison Park instead.

St James’ Park is the better place to play football right now. Newcastle are a club going in the right direction, while Everton are still having issues after a rotten season last time out.

For Pedro, he will want to be back in the Premier League. Dan Ashworth clearly wants to get him in a black and white shirt, and needs to seal the deal quickly before Everton swoop in.
