Newcastle United have made a transfer breakthrough and have agreed a deal to sign Joao Pedro.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has stated that Watford have accepted the Magpies’ latest offer for the 20-year-old.
The Hornets rejected Newcastle’s initial approaches for the forward, vowing that they wanted to keep him at Vicarage Road.
However, Eddie Howe is set to get his man. An attacking signing is finally on the way.
Newcastle to sign Joao Pedro
Romano has tweeted about the latest development in Newcastle’s bid to bring Pedro to St James’ Park.
He has stated that Watford have accepted our bid of £25million plus £5million in add-ons. That means the deal could eventually equal £30million, which is exactly what the Championship side wanted for their player.
Pedro will reportedly sign a six-year deal with the Magpies, with Romano stating that personal terms have already been agreed.
Three words from Romano should sum up that this deal is a goer: ‘Here we go!’
Everything seems to be in place for Pedro to become a Newcastle United player, and that is a huge boost for Howe.
Magpies have been desperate for more quality
While Newcastle were excellent on Sunday against Manchester City, we lacked quality on the bench. We didn’t have anyone to bring on who could really change the game.
Bringing in Pedro will give Howe more options in attack. He can play as a striker through the middle or off either flank. That kind of versatility makes the youngster massively appealing.
Pedro will hope to settle in quickly and will likely lean on the Brazilian players already on Tyneside. In fact, it was previously reported that Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes’ presence is part of the reason why Pedro wants to join Newcastle.
The former Fluminense man will be joining Newcastle at a very exciting time. The club is heading in the right direction, as seen by Sunday’s showing against the Premier League champions.
Toon fans have been desperate for more signings, while Howe will also have been keen to get more quality in his squad.
That looks set to happen, with Pedro potentially on the brink of becoming a Magpie. He appears to be on course to become the eighth new arrival at St James’ Park.
