Newcastle must exploit PL rivals’ PSR situation to land perfect Miguel Almiron upgrade

Newcastle United very nearly said goodbye to Miguel Almiron during the January transfer window, and a lot of fans were willing to see him go.

It likely would have led to a replacement arriving, and right wing is certainly a position that we can improve in.

However, the transfer window closed with Miguel Almiron still at St James’ Park. But Newcastle’s need for more quality on the right of attack is still clear, and it is something that the club must address this summer.

And it looks like the perfect Almiron upgrade is going to be available at one of Newcastle United’s Premier League rivals.

Wolves are going to have to sell Pedro Neto

According to the Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are likely to sell Pedro Neto this summer.

That is because Wolves are currently right on the limit of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, which means they are going to have to sell before they buy.

And because Neto is their most saleable asset right now, it is reported that the Portuguese winger will probably be sold to finance their summer transfer business.

Newcastle must look to sign him

Neto will have a lot of suitors if Wolves are looking to sell, and Newcastle United should be one of them.

The 23-year-old looks perfectly suited to the Magpies, and could give Eddie Howe a devastating front three alongside Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.

Neto would certainly be an upgrade on Almiron. Not only is he better right now, but he even has the scope to grow further.

While Almiron does work incredibly hard for the team, his efforts in the final third often leave a lot to be desired. The Paraguayan has only provided seven goal contributions this season from 34 appearances.

In contrast, Neto has got 13 goal contributions this season in just 18 appearances. He has got eight Premier League assists to his name, which is only two shy of Kieran Trippier.

The Portuguese speedster is exciting to watch with his pace, while he is also decisive. That is a dangerous combination, and one we would love to see in black and white next season.

PSR is causing problems at Wolves, and it is a situation that Newcastle should look to take advantage of by moving for Neto when the summer arrives.
