Newcastle United’s new owners have been in place for almost a month now.
Despite a decent amount of time having passed, they are yet to hire a new manager.

Steve Bruce left his post on October 20 and a host of names have been mentioned as a possible successor to him.
It looked as though Unai Emery was going to come. That is now dead in the water after he said he was staying at Villarreal.
In addition to not yet finding a new head coach, Newcastle’s new owners still haven’t identified a sporting director.
This is an absolutely key appointment that will help the Magpies to spend their cash wisely.

The likes of Luis Campos and Marc Overmars have been mentioned, but there is one man that Newcastle perhaps ought to be making some enquiries about.
Liverpool’s director of football Michael Edwards is out of contract at the end of the season. He was linked with Newcastle a few weeks ago.
It was reported yesterday that he was bound for RB Leipzig. But Oliver Mintzlaff, their CEO, has ruled out a move (via Fabrizio Romano).
If there is a chance Newcastle could prise him away from his current role before his contract ends, then the Magpies should not think twice about taking it.
Edwards would be a masterful appointment
Edwards’ brilliance in recent years is a big reason behind Liverpool being the force they are today.
The man has been responsible for facilitating deals for the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, Alisson, Fabinho and Andy Robertson – stars that have all transformed the Reds and are all now world-class players.
Not only does he make fantastic signings, but he is a dab-hand at securing big sales. He got £15 million for Jordon Ibe, £20 million for Dominic Solanke and £24 million for Rhian Brewster (via Mirror).

And of course, he sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a whopping £142 million.
The man is as shrewd as they come.
Spearheading the Newcastle revolution will not be easy, but Edwards seems like one of a few names capable of doing so.
