Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing in Marc Overmars to be their new director of football.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, the Magpies are looking to add the 48-year-old, who is currently at Ajax.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona winger has enjoyed a brilliant time at the Dutch giants since his arrival there in 2012.
He has been praised regularly for his work on transfers at the club.
Some of his more recent success stories include Andre Onana, picked up for just £170,000 and Frenkie de Jong, who he landed for just £1 million in 2015.
de Jong would go on to sign for Barcelona for a reported £62 million (Mirror).
He has a clear eye for talent-spotting, and his work has helped Ajax to remain top dogs in the Netherlands.

With Newcastle now having massive cash reserves, it is vital for the club to appoint someone who is going to use the money correctly.
The Magpies need someone with a clear idea about getting players who will improve the team. And identify who can fit into the new manager’s style.
Overmars would be a shrewd addition
Overmars’ stellar work at Ajax has previously led to links to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.
The man has helped to develop the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek and Hakim Ziyech amongst many others.

He can also spot effectiveness in players that might be ‘underwhelming’ signings in the eyes of supporters. Daley Blind and Dusan Tadic being two cases in point.
There has been so much to like about Ajax in recent years.
Overmars has been central to it all, and Newcastle hiring him to oversee a revolution would likely be a smart play.
