Newcastle United supporters have been asked to put in the miles this season, and their loyalty has often been exploited.
So far this season, we have seen Newcastle travel to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup. The trip to Manchester United cost match-going fans £40, while those who then went to the capital to see the Chelsea game had to pay £38.
The FA Cup is also proving to be costly, with those in the away end at Craven Cottage for the 2-0 win over Fulham being charged £40 for an adult ticket. Then to make matters worse, the broadcasters decided to put it on at 7pm on a Saturday night…on ITV4.
The Toon Army always travel in their thousands, and their loyalty has been taken advantage of time and time again this season.
And that is why news coming out of Blackburn Rovers is so refreshing.

Blackburn Rovers refuse to overcharge Newcastle fans for FA Cup clash
Newcastle will be taking on Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup. It is another away draw for Eddie Howe’s side, who will travel to Ewood Park on February 27th.
The Magpies are going to be roared on by a huge away end, with Newcastle getting an allocation of 7,000 tickets. And to make matters even better, an adult ticket is only going to cost £20.
Despite knowing that Newcastle are going to bring a huge number of fans, Blackburn have not raised the price of a ticket. That is commendable, and it is something that the likes of Man United and Chelsea should take note of.
It should be a very noisy away end later this month, as Newcastle aim to advance to the quarter finals of the FA Cup. Eddie Howe‘s side are hoping to go the distance in the competition, as they aim to end their trophy drought.
That nearly happened last season, with Newcastle reaching the Carabao Cup final. They made it to Wembley, but were beaten by Manchester United.
Now they are looking to return this season, but will need to get past Blackburn Rovers first.
