Alexander Isak makes another Newcastle United blunder in his farewell statement

Alexander Isak has finally issued a message to Newcastle United following his move to Liverpool.

The saga of the summer came to an end on transfer deadline day, with Isak joining Liverpool for £125million.

In response to the deal, Newcastle released a very blunt message. They did not wish Isak luck, or thank him for his efforts in black and white.

During his media duties, Isak explained why he chose Liverpool, but failed to address his former employer or the fans that had supported him for the last three years.

However, that has now changed. The 25-year-old has issued a message on Instagram to everyone associated with Newcastle United, including his former teammates, the staff and the supporters.

Every word of Alexander Isak’s statement to Newcastle United

For just the second time since the end of the 2024/25 season, Isak has posted something on his official Instagram account.

The first was a message explaining how happy he was to be joining Liverpool, and the second is a ‘thank you’ to Newcastle United.

“I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together,” he wrote.

“Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs. It has been an honour to be part of the journey from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years.

“Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.”

No apology to Newcastle United from Alexander Isak

It has been such a messy departure from St James’ Park that it is actually surprising to see Alexander Isak address his now former club.

In that respect, it is a positive to see him pay tribute to those that helped him during his three years on Tyneside. They were three very successful years, with Isak developing into one of the best strikers on the planet and winning silverware.

However, there is still something missing from Isak’s statement. There is no apology from the forward on the back of a summer that saw him tarnish his legacy.

As Isak says, he helped write history at Newcastle United. Had this summer not played out like it did, he would be considered a Newcastle United legend for eternity.

Instead, all he did was disrespect the club and its fans at every turn.

Not going to Asia for the pre-season tour. Training at his former club Real Sociedad. That statement claiming that promises had been broken. Refusing to play for the club and missing the first three Premier League games of the season.

His actions have been appalling, and they are what he will be remembered for at St James’ Park. While an apology would not have brought him back to Newcastle United, it could have changed the way he is perceived on Tyneside.

Isak says his three years with Newcastle United were unforgettable, yet acted like they meant absolutely nothing over the space of one summer.
