Few can doubt the character in this Newcastle United squad.
While the summer transfer window was no doubt hugely disappointing, the players Eddie Howe does have at his disposal are proving they are committed to the cause this season.
Newcastle had to battle through adversity to beat Southampton on the opening day after Fabian Schar’s controversial red card, while they also fought back to claim a big point at Bournemouth.
They then had to weather the storm against Tottenham before the international break to record an impressive victory, underlining the strength of resolve in the squad.
Indeed, though significant new summer signings would have been nice, Howe does have a few more options in his squad for the season ahead.
Lloyd Kelly is providing competition across the backline, while William Osula will cover both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
Seemingly happy to play a bit-part role in this resilient squad, the summer signing has now opened up on his friendship with Isak in particular.

William Osula now shares his real relationship with Newcastle star Alexander Isak
Speaking to BOLD, the 21-year-old revealed that Isak took him under his wing following his move from Sheffield United, acting like something of a big brother to the new arrival.

“We connected straight away. He’s like my big brother,” he said.
“We both play in attack. We are both from Scandinavia, so it just makes sense. We play a lot of things like table tennis together.
“We’re just having fun. It’s very cool.”
William Osula is already impressing Eddie Howe
Osula will no doubt need to be afforded time to grow at Newcastle. Expecting him to be as prolific as either Isak or Wilson straight away feels nothing short of ridiculous.
Still, Howe has spoken of how impressed he’s been with the Dane in training, which certainly puts him good stead for the campaign ahead.
Hopefully, learning his craft under a player as celebrated as Isak will help nurture him going forward.
If Osula can develop into a player even half as good as Isak, Newcastle have quite the talent on their hands.
