Joe Willock is a professional footballer who plays for Newcastle United.

Who is Joe Willock?

Joseph George Willock is a professional midfielder who is versatile enough to play in more advanced positions, like on the left wing, as well.

Willock has only played for two clubs in his entire career, joining Arsenal’s academy when he was just four years old and climbing through the ranks to the senior side.

Ironically, Willock made his Premier League debut against Newcastle in 2018, aged 18.

Despite his potential, Willock struggled to hold a consistent place in the Gunners’ starting XI, which resulted in him joining Newcastle on loan in 2021.

Willock scored on his debut for the Toon and went on to score in seven consecutive games, equalling a club record set by Alan Shearer.

Understandably, after such an incredible run of form, Newcastle moved to sign him permanently in the summer of 2021, but it wouldn’t be until February that he got back on the score sheet.

Though he once again finds himself warming the bench, Willock did play an important part in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup triumph by scoring in the second round against Nottingham Forest.
