What Yasir Al-Rumayyan was seen doing after Newcastle United’s win over Nottingham Forest is brilliant

Newcastle United and PIF chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan was in attendance for the 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest.

With Champions League qualification on the line, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest did not disappoint in their Premier League showdown.

Nick Pope struggled on his return and conceded early, but four goals in 11 minutes from Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak gave Newcastle a dominant lead heading into the break.

Forest cut the deficit to just one goal thanks to Nikola Milenkovic and Ryan Yates, but Eddie Howe’s side held on to pick up an important three points.

Newcastle overcame their recent poor form at home to win in front of a packed-out St James’ Park. It was confirmed last week that PIF chiefs planned to fly to Newcastle to watch the Forest clash, and chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was spotted on the pitch shortly after the full-time whistle.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan spotted at St James’ Park

With the January window now done and dusted, the hierarchy at Newcastle can begin planning ahead. That is the intention behind PIF’s journey this week.

PIF are expected to make a stadium decision this month, and talks around the future of St James’ Park are expected to be held during their trip to England.

Two options are on the table, to build a new stadium for £1.2bn or to renovate and expand St James’ Park.

Before making that crucial decision, Yasir Al-Rumayyan got a nice close-up look with a ball at his feet.

As spotted by Craig Hope on X, Al-Rumayyan went down to the touchline after Newcastle’s victory and he briefly took a ball onto the pitch.

Al-Rumayyan commented on his Newcastle takeover earlier this week, and now he has the power to make one of the biggest decisions in the club’s history.

When can Newcastle fans expect a stadium decision?

Newcastle fans gave their verdict on a new stadium, and supporters do not have long to wait before an official announcement is due.

With talks taking place this week, reports suggest a stadium decision is due in March following on from the next fan advisory board.

Once a decision is finalised stadium construction could begin in 2025, although whether that is a new venue or expansion work is yet to be seen.

Since their takeover in 2021, PIF have been transparent and honest with Newcastle fans about the direction of the club and its long-term aims. The stadium decision will likely be one of their more controversial choices.
