What Newcastle United plan to do with Garang Kuol after his first Toon goal

With three weeks gone in the January transfer window, Garang Kuol is still at Newcastle United.

That is certainly a surprise, as it felt inevitable that he would leave Newcastle United on loan this month.

Garang Kuol missed out on a summer exit due to injury, and has since made sporadic appearances for the Magpies’ Under-21s side.

He featured in Friday’s 4-2 defeat to Southampton, with Kuol scoring his first Newcastle United goal. That felt like a significant moment for a player whose momentum has stalled since arriving on Tyneside two years ago.

Newcastle United’s Garang Kuol plan

It is pivotal that Newcastle loan Kuol out this month, and that could now be on the cards.

According to the Athletic, Newcastle United have made Kuol available for loan.

However, there is no mention of any interest in the 20-year-old. There is also no hint of where Newcastle United would like to send the Australia international.

Kuol has had two loan spells away from St James’ Park. His first was north of the border at Hearts, while last season he went to the Netherlands to play for Volendam. Neither spell went according to plan, which is why loan number three is vitally important.

Who else could leave Newcastle United on loan

It has been a busy few days of outgoings at Newcastle United.

Charlie McArthur has joined Carlisle United on loan, while Travis Hernes has been sent to Aalborg in Denmark.

Most recently, Alex Murphy signed for Bolton Wanderers on loan.

Now the Magpies are looking to arrange a deal for Kuol, while the Athletic report that Jamie Miley is also likely to be loaned out.

He spent the first half of the season at Newport County, but made just eight appearances in total due to injury and has since been recalled.
