Garang Kuol has become Newcastle United’s forgotten man.
The Aussie forward was brought to Newcastle United by Dan Ashworth two years ago, and there was a lot of hype surrounding his arrival.
Garang Kuol was one of the most exciting teenagers in world football, and had just represented Australia at the 2022 World Cup. He felt like a player with a lot of potential, as Newcastle United snapped up a star of the future.
Since then, he has had two failed loan spells away from St James’ Park. He has endured struggles at Hearts then Volendam, before missing out on a third loan exit this summer.
Injury stopped Kuol leaving on loan in the summer, with the 20-year-old remaining on Tyneside. Kuol has trained with the Newcastle first-team on occasions, while he has made sporadic appearances for the Under-21s.

Garang Kuol scores for Newcastle United Under-21s
The hype has died down, but finally Kuol has sent a reminder of his talent.
The attacker has just netted his first ever Newcastle United goal, scoring for the Under-21s in a Premier League 2 defeat to Southampton.
The young Magpies fell short on the south coast, losing 4-2. However, Kuol will have received a major confidence boost from his goal – a low drive with his left foot.
Newcastle must arrange loan exit for Kuol
Kuol’s first ever Toon goal – albeit at youth level – comes at a time when the January transfer window is open.
Paul Mitchell has been hard at work sorting out loan moves for Toon youngsters, with Charlie McArthur joining Carlisle United and Travis Hernes signing for Aalborg BK.
It remains to be seen if Kuol will follow that duo out the door. Hopefully he does, as he is a player who would massively benefit from playing regular senior football.
Whether that is in England or abroad, Kuol merely needs an opportunity.
