Newcastle United is going to be the star of an upcoming Amazon documentary, and now we know it will have a happy ending.
The Amazon cameras have been behind the scenes at the club all season, with the series set to focus on the business and commercial side of Newcastle since the change of ownership.
While Eddie Howe had reservations about the idea, a compromise was reached with the owners looking to boost the global profile of the club.
The documentary should do just that, and now we know it will feature Toon tears of joy rather than dispair.
Documentary to end with Champions League joy
Amazon were there for the cup final back in February, watching on as Newcastle United lost at Wembley to Manchester United. It was agonizing for the Magpies, who passed up a chance to end their trophy drought.
But from that low, Newcastle have rallied. Howe’s side will be competing in the Champions League next season after securing their place in the top four on Monday.
The draw against Leicester means Newcastle have qualified for the Champions League, much to the delight of the players, staff and fans. There were incredible scenes inside St James’ Park on Monday night, and the celebrations continued into the dressing room.
What Kieran Trippier just said about the Amazon documentary
The club have released behind the scenes footage from Monday’s game, and showed what happened in the dressing room after the players completed the lap of honour.
Kieran Trippier shook hands with every player, including Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimaraes and Harrison Ashby. The 32-year-old then turned his attention to the staff, and the people behind the camera – and Trippier had some words for the media team.
Trippier said: “Good time for a documentary, eh?”
He’s not wrong – it’s a brilliant time for a documentary! It should capture the incredible joy of Toon fans, who have witnessed a special season.
It is great to know that the doc will have a happy ending, as so many series’ like that have ended in tears. We have seen Sunderland fans crying on Netflix, while we witnessed Arsenal crumble under the pressure on the latest All Or Nothing series.
But there will be nothing like that on Newcastle’s upcoming documentary, and fans are buzzing to relive it all with the behind the scenes footage.
