Newcastle United fans are sick of hearing about Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon potentially leaving St James’ Park.

There has been relentless speculation in the mainstream media about Newcastle United’s top stars, with constant chatter about the Magpies needing to sell.

However, Newcastle are not going to sell their top stars – even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. That is the club’s stance, with Eddie Howe set to retain the likes of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes.

They all have long-term contracts, while Newcastle want to hand Isak a new deal on improved terms to further secure his future on Tyneside.

Newcastle United annoyed behind the scenes

While Newcastle plan to hand their superstar striker a new contract, others dream of him playing for a different club. Every club wishes they had Isak, and there is always talk in the media about him moving to a club like Arsenal or Barcelona.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United are ‘privately’ irritated by the attempts to unsettle their top stars.

However, the Telegraph add that Newcastle are confident they can retain the services of their best players, whose asking prices will be too high for any potential suitors.

Alexander Isak chat is a compliment to Newcastle United

Newcastle United should take all of this as a compliment. It is a testament to their recruitment and player development that these stars are being hyped up for ‘bigger moves’.

It comes with the territory, and all the Magpies can do is ensure the players in question do not become unsettled. They can do that by performing on the pitch and proving that the likes of Isak and Gordon can achieve their ambitions in the black and white of Newcastle.

Newcastle can also do that by strengthening in the summer. There has been a lot of talk of staleness on Tyneside, with the club failing to make a major signing during the previous three transfer windows.

That should change this summer, and Newcastle need to bring in players who can compliment the likes of Isak and Gordon. That will be easier if Eddie Howe’s side qualify for the Champions League.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot Newcastle United can do to stop the noise. It is infuriating, and the club are right to be irritated, but it at least shows they are doing something right.

Newcastle United have players who everyone wishes was theirs, and long may it continue. If Arsenal fans want to dream about Isak, let them. After we all, Newcastle United have got the real thing.
