Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is undoubtedly one of the best around right now.
Indeed, the superstar Sweden international has scored a whopping 15 times in the Premier League this season, with only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah ahead of him.
Isak is in fine fettle for Newcastle and must surely considered one of the best strikers in the world.
Pundit Paul Merson has hailed Newcastle star Isak as the best centre-forward in the Premier League right now, even ahead of Haaland.
Surely few would doubt the striker is worthy of such praise. Isak broke Alan Shearer’s Newcastle record of scoring in eight consecutive games but drew a blank last time out.
Newcastle were thrashed 4-1 by Bournemouth on Saturday and fresh insight has emerged.

What Bournemouth players said to each other about Alexander Isak

According to the Daily Mail, Cherries defensive duo Dean Huijsen and Illya Zabarnyi actually made a pact after watching Isak warm-up for Newcastle ahead of the game.
It is believed the pair made a vow not to let Isak score in what would have been a ninth consecutive Premier League game.
Clearly – whatever role it might have played – something about it worked.
Isak was among a number of Newcastle players to struggle against Bournemouth, though the hope will be to turn things around at Southampton on Saturday.
How did Alexander Isak play against Bournemouth?
Not brilliantly, albeit Isak was hardly alone in that.
As is shown below, Isak managed only one shot and did not find the target on Saturday, losing the ball twice from only 42 touches.
| Touches | Shots | Shots on target | Dispossessed |
| 42 | 1 | 0 | 2 |
There is little doubt that the whole team struggled but it certainly was an off day for the Newcastle striker.
Still, Newcastle insiders know Isak is a world class talent and it would be foolish to bet against him roaring back into form against the Saints.
