Eddie Howe walked onto the St James’ Park pitch for the first time yesterday as Newcastle United manager.
The 43-year-old was on media duty, speaking to the club website and then completing a press conference with the national media as he was unveiled as the new Toon boss.
Howe also posed for pictures with a Newcastle United jersey, alongside his new employers Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

And according to the Chronicle, Staveley had a simple message for the manager as they walked onto the hallowed turf.
“We’re so proud.” That’s what Staveley reportedly said to Howe.
A definitive week for Amanda Staveley and Newcastle
It’s been a ropey start for the new Newcastle owners. While they’ve lifted the mood around the club, results haven’t improved.
Meanwhile, there have been issues behind the scenes. The owners were somewhat embarrassed when Unai Emery turned them down, while they’ve been criticised by many for their naivety when it comes to running a football club.
People who haven’t ran a football club before don’t know how to run a football club – shocker…

The appointment of Howe is the first major moment of the new era at Newcastle United.
If it wasn’t for Lee Charnley and the Sports Direct signage, the club would be clean of the Mike Ashley regime.
Howe represents a new start. He’s the first manager the new owners have picked to guide them to success.
If he gets it right, Staveley will be even prouder than the day he was unveiled at St James’ Park.
