One Newcastle United player made Eddie Howe go ‘wow’ in training this week.
It was not Bruno Guimaraes, despite the Newcastle United boss admitting that the 26-year-old is a world class player.
It was not Jacob Murphy either, as he has not trained at all ahead of Saturday’s game against Bournemouth after getting injured in the warm-up last weekend.
Instead, it was 17-year-old Lewis Miley. Howe was stunned by something that the Newcastle teenager did in training this week, as his side prepare to take on the Cherries at St James’ Park.
It is another game that Miley is expected to start, and he appears to be in fine form ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Premier League encounter.
Lewis Miley blew Eddie Howe away in Newcastle training this week
Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Bournemouth, Howe has been speaking to beIN Sports. He discussed the consistency that Miley has shown at such a young age, and shared how the youngster impressed him in training this week.
“The hardest thing for any young player is to continue that consistency, to week-in week-out perform at the levels needed,” he said.
“He’s only 17 and he’s been able to be very consistent. Watching him train this week, there was a couple of moments I remember thinking ‘wow, what a player’.
“For someone of his age to show that maturity that he has. We’re very lucky to have him.”

Miley has taken his opportunity at Newcastle United
It has been an amazing season for Miley so far. He has received multiple opportunities due to Newcastle’s injury crisis in midfield, and he has grabbed them with both hands.
His first Premier League start came in the reverse fixture against Bournemouth, which the Magpies lost 2-0. While it may have been a defeat, Miley certainly did not disgrace himself.
And he has kicked on since then, shining against giant teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder is getting better and better, and that is only going to continue as he carries on with his development. He is in safe hands with Howe, who knows fine well that he has a special talent in his ranks that he must nurture and take care of.
