Newcastle United could have another Anthony Gordon situation on their hands this week.
Anthony Gordon shocked everyone last weekend when he was named in the starting XI against Nottingham Forest. It came after Eddie Howe had stated that the winger had not trained all week after suffering an ankle injury during the draw with Luton Town.
This led to everyone believing that Gordon was ruled out for the game at the City Ground, only for him to train on Friday and play the following day.
Now Newcastle fans will be crossing their fingers that a similar situation could occur this week, as the Magpies prepare to take on Bournemouth.
Newcastle injury update on Jacob Murphy
Jacob Murphy is an injury doubt for the game against the Cherries.
He was an unused substitute last weekend, with Howe stating that he was unusable after not feeling right in the warm up.
There was then no sign of him in the club’s training pictures during the week, and now an update regarding the £12million attacker has emerged.
Craig Hope has been to Eddie Howe’s pre-match press conference on Friday, and took to X to provide an injury update.
He wrote: “Jacob Murphy (calf) has not trained this week.”

Still hope for Jacob Murphy against Bournemouth
After the Gordon debacle last weekend, we know that Howe is not necessarily ruling Murphy out of Saturday’s game.
While he has not trained all week, he could still train today. That could then lead to him being involved in some capacity against Bournemouth.
Hopefully he is, as we could really do without losing another forward. Callum Wilson is already going to miss the game, with the 31-year-old set to undergo surgery. That will result in Gordon playing through the middle on Saturday, which should mean Harvey Barnes starts on the wing.
But Howe will be keen to have an option in reserve, which is why it is really important that Murphy is able to prove his fitness and make himself available for selection.
