While Newcastle United have major injury issues, West Ham have received a positive update ahead of Monday night’s game.

Not only is Anthony Gordon suspended for the Magpies, but two key players will also be unavailable.

Lewis Hall is injured, and will miss the rest of the season. On top of that, Sven Botman is having surgery that will rule him out for the next eight weeks.

The Newcastle United squad has taken a hit ahead of Monday night’s game at the London Stadium, while Graham Potter has confirmed that West Ham are getting stronger.

West Ham given Lucas Paqueta boost

Ahead of Monday night’s game between West Ham United and Newcastle United, the Hammers boss has spoken to the media.

Potter has provided an update on Lucas Paqueta’s availability, after the Brazilian playmaker missed West Ham’s previous two games with an ankle injury.

“He’s fine,” Potter said.

“He’s been disappointed because he’s missed games with injury, but he’s worked hard and trained well this week. I’ve found him no problem whatsoever, and he’s been really good.

“He’s been with the group and given everything in the games he’s played. He’s done everything he needs to do and he’s available again.”

Lucas Paqueta set to face Newcastle United friend

News of Paqueta’s return to fitness comes in the same week that it was reported that the 27-year-old’s betting charge hearing is due to take place in March.

Paqueta was charged for breaching betting rules in May 2024, with the FA looking to hand him a lifetime ban.

In the meantime, he is available and could feature against Newcastle United on Monday night.

He is a player who Toon fans know very well, many of which dreamed of him signing for the Magpies before his £51million move to West Ham.

Newcastle fans were not the only ones dreaming of Paqueta heading to Tyneside. Bruno Guimaraes wanted Newcastle to sign Paqueta, with the pair becoming close friends at Lyon.

They will be opponents on Monday night, as Newcastle aim to get revenge on West Ham for what happened at St James’ Park in November. The Hammers beat Newcastle 2-0, with Paqueta playing very well that night.

He has a habit of playing well against Newcastle United, and Bruno and co will be keen to ensure that is not the case again on Monday.
