Eddie Howe has already sent Noni Madueke a warning amid claims Newcastle United want to sign him.
Newcastle United are ready to spend again this summer, after going through the entirety of last season without a major signing.
Madueke is a player Newcastle have looked at, with Howe keen to bolster his options at right-wing after the January departure of Miguel Almiron.
Harry Kane was impressed by Madueke during England’s otherwise dull win over Andorra and the Chelsea forward would be an interesting addition.
Newcastle wanted to sign Madueke in 2024 but he stayed at Stamford Bridge, winning the Conference League with the Blues.
While an exciting-looking addition on paper, the 23-year-old may be in for a rude awakening if he joins Newcastle.

Eddie Howe’s warning to players about Newcastle United training
Earlier this season, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca confirmed he’d dropped Madueke due to his performances in training.
In December, Maresca said: “He has to understand that he has to train every day good. He has to be ambitious. He scored one tonight, he has to go for the second one and the third one. He has to give more assists.”
While it should be said that the former PSV star did get back into the team, a lack of intensity in training just would not be accepted by the Newcastle United manager.
In 2024, he told Gary Neville on The Overlap: “I take it very seriously. You’ve either got to train well and get on board or you’re not really going to exist under me.”
How close Newcastle United came to signing Noni Madueke
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed Newcastle were close to signing Madueke in 2024, only to see the deal collapse.
In fact, it’s said that decision-makers on Tyneside considered him to be their “perfect player”, but Maresca was impressed enough in the early weeks of his tenure at Chelsea to keep the winger in west London.
| Games | Starts | Goals | Assists |
| 32 | 27 | 7 | 4 |
There’s certainly a talent to work with there. He scored seven goals and registered four assists in 27 Premier League starts last season and has broken into an England squad packed with top talent.
If Madueke were to join Newcastle, he will be under no illusions as to the standards Howe sets.
