Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United team are now legendary after winning the Carabao Cup.

They became the first Newcastle United team to win a domestic trophy since 1955, with fans pondering a statue for Eddie Howe.

This Newcastle United squad will go down in history. PIF want more trophies, but the first will always be the most special.

Bruno Guimaraes wanted to write his name in the history books, while the likes of Joelinton and Jacob Murphy have been on outstanding journeys to achieve this moment in a black and white shirt.

Sean Neave part of Newcastle United’s historic Carabao Cup winning squad

For one of Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup winners, the journey is still in its infancy.

Lewis Miley was an unused substitute at Wembley on Sunday, but the 18-year-old was not the youngest member of Newcastle United’s squad.

That honour goes to Sean Neave, the 17-year-old striker who is yet to make his senior debut for the club.

The teenager has been an unused substitute on three occasions so far, sitting on the bench for wins over Birmingham City, West Ham United and Liverpool.

Neave now has something that a lot of iconic Newcastle United figures do not have. Alan Shearer is Newcastle’s all-time leading goalscorer, but he never won anything when he was at St James’ Park.

But Neave has a winners’ medal, and he got it without having to play a single minute.

When Newcastle United fans can expect to see more of Sean Neave

For Neave, it will hopefully be the first of many honours during his Newcastle United career.

He is clearly very highly rated, otherwise Eddie Howe would not have trusted him to be a substitute for a game of such magnitude.

Neave is training regularly with Newcastle’s first-team, and it will hopefully not be long before he makes his senior debut.

However, it might not happen this season given the number of attackers ahead of him in the pecking order and the fact that Champions League qualification is still on the line.

But fans should expect to see Neave in action when pre-season arrives. It will be a chance to test himself against senior sides, just like Trevan Sanusi did in 2024.

Once pre-season arrives, Neave will be 18-years-old. Given his age, it is likely that he will remain on Tyneside, where he will continue to benefit from training alongside a superstar striker in Alexander Isak.

No matter what happens to Neave, he will always be part of Newcastle United’s history-making Carabao Cup final side.
