Newcastle United have two top level strikers, and the stats prove it.
Both Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak were immense last season. The former got 18 goals, which is his best ever Premier League tally, while the latter got 10 in his first year in England.
They are doing well this season too, although their goal tallies have been hindered by injuries. Wilson has got eight in all competitions, while Isak is on 14.
Fitness has been the main issue, particularly when it comes to Wilson. When he is on the pitch, he usually does well. And when he gets a chance to score, he often takes it.
It has been a while since we have seen him hit the back of the net, but the stats show that Newcastle’s number nine is actually more clinical than one of the Premier League’s best ever strikers in Harry Kane.

Impressive Callum Wilson stat, better than Harry Kane
On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, they showed a graphic detailing the most clinical strikers in the Premier League. It showed the eight players with the best shot conversion rate since the beginning of last season in the top flight of English football.
Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi was top, with the 26-year-old scoring with 26.8% of the shots he takes.
Wilson and Isak both featured in the top eight, with Wilson sitting in fourth place with a shot conversion rate of 24%. That put him directly above current Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, who boasted a percentage of 23.1% from his Tottenham Hotspur days.
Isak was then below Kane, with his shot conversion at 22.5%.
Newcastle massively benefit from a fit Callum Wilson
It just shows how good Wilson is in front of goal when he is fit and available.
There is no doubting his talent. He is a wonderful goalscorer, who is just shy of scoring one goal from every four shots he takes. As the stats show, he can hold his own alongside Harry Kane in terms of Premier League goalscoring.
But Wilson can’t score goals when he is not on the pitch, and it is unclear when we will see him play again. The 31-year-old’s season could be over due to a pectoral injury, and his fitness record may lead to Newcastle cashing in this summer.
