There has been some concern involving Sandro Tonali ahead of Newcastle United vs PSG, but Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has now set the record straight.
Eddie Howe has been putting his players through their paces at the Newcastle training ground on Tuesday morning, as they prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The likes of Joelinton and Sven Botman were not involved, with the duo set to miss the game against Luis Enrique’s side.
There was also concern that Callum Wilson would be unavailable, but the striker has actually trained with the rest of his teammates ahead of the Champions League clash.
And so has Sandro Tonali, despite an earlier report claiming that he missed the session.

Confusion over Sandro Tonali’s involvement in Newcastle training
Late Tuesday morning, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie provided an update from Newcastle’s training ground. He stated that Tonali could not be seen in training, although there was no reason given for his absence.
However, turns out he was not absent after all.
Downie has since provided an update, writing on X (Twitter): “Understand Sandro Tonali was involved at Newcastle training today despite not being present at the start of the session. Perhaps nursing a knock & needed some treatment? We’ll get more from Eddie Howe at his pre-PSG press conference later this afternoon.”

Sandro Tonali feels likely to start against PSG
Well, that’s that panic over.
There was a lot of concern when it sounded like Tonali could be suffering with an injury ahead of the game against PSG. Newcastle already have Joelinton and Joe Willock missing from midfield, so losing Tonali would have been an agonizing blow.
Fortunately, it sounds like there is nothing to worry about. That is excellent news, as Tonali feels likely to start for the Magpies on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old features in our predicted starting XI, taking Elliot Anderson’s place in midfield – just like he did against AC Milan last month.
Tonali is one of the few Newcastle players who actually have Champions League experience, so his presence is vital during the early stages of the competition.
As Downie says, we will hear more from Howe when he speaks to the press ahead of the game, but the fact that Tonali did actually train will ease the nerves on Tyneside ahead of Wednesday’s huge game at St James’ Park.
