Newcastle United fans got to breathe sigh of relief today after Keith Downie provided an update from his training ground report.
Earlier today Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie named four key players who missed training at Newcastle‘s Benton Training Ground this morning, one of whom was a huge shock in Sandro Tonali.
Since then Downie has back-pedaled slightly in a follow-up post on X, and noted that Callum Wilson did report for duty a bit later on.
Callum Wilson should be at least on the bench tomorrow night
So while there was no news on why Tonali was missing, at least Callum Wilson remains in contention for a role against Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow night.

Given his late appearance in training it may suggest that the £20million former Bournemouth man may only make the bench instead of leading the line from the off, but with Sven Botman, Joe Willock and Joelinton all missing and now potentially Sandro Tonali, we’ll take any good news we can get.
Newcastle still have a strong enough squad to give PSG plenty to think about tomorrow night, but there’s no denying that fans would be feeling a lot better about things were Botman, Joelinton and Tonali available.
Newcastle still have enough quality to cause PSG problems
Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon will both once again be absolutely vital for Newcastle as the chief foil for Kylian Mbappe and the main attacking outlet respectively.

Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes will also be very important to how Newcastle play tomorrow.
It’s a big, big game, but other than Mbappe – who is reportedly not 100% anyway – Newcastle should have nothing to fear.
