Sandro Tonali’s time at Newcastle United has been filled with ups and downs.

Tonali came back to Newcastle’s first-team squad after serving his 10-month suspension and hasn’t looked back.

The Italian is now an established member of the starting XI after it took a bit of time to get back into the swing of things in the Premier League. Tonali is now fully up to speed and has barely put a foot wrong in recent games.

The partnership between him and captain Bruno Guimaraes has been brilliant so far this season – Newcastle’s win against Manchester United once again showed how well the two can work together while Joelinton rounds off the midfield three.

Monday’s win made it five consecutive wins in all competitions with Tonali scoring a brace in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win against Brentford.

Now, a recent social media post from the Italian has seemingly decided his fate amid reports that he could leave Newcastle in January.

Tonali sees future at Newcastle amid AC Milan interest

Rumours around the 24-year-old’s future have circulated in recent weeks with reports suggesting Tonali could return to Italy having left a year prior.

However, following the win at Old Trafford, Tonali took to Instagram to celebrate the win.

The post read: “Stronger, faster, hungrier. We keep pushing

“Magpies enjoy the end of the year, can’t wait to see you in 2025 for more of these incredible nights.”

The last few words in that post are what will delight Newcastle fans the most – Tonali will be back in 2025 and looks to have put those transfer rumours to bed.

Toon boss Eddie Howe praised Tonali’s conduct in training, even saying that during his ban he was still supportive of his teammates.

Bruno Guimaraes tells Tonali to stay

Guimaraes was equally excellent against Man United on Monday as he continues to prove why he was made club captain.

The Brazilian completed 60 passes, won seven duels, made five recoveries and won three fouls while dominating the midfield with the Red Devils spending the game trying to keep up with his intensity.

The 27-year-old isn’t short of his own transfer interest, with Guimaraes a Manchester City target – his fee could force the Citizens to look elsewhere.

On Tonali’s Instagram post, Guimaraes commented: “Andiamo fratello te voglio benne.” (Come on bro I want you in).

This could be in response to Tonali’s words about 2025 with Guimaraes also encouraging the Italian to stay at the club so they can continue their partnership.
