Newcastle United beat Brentford 5-1 on Saturday, with Bruno Guimaraes the star of the show – much to the delight of Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Toon midfielder was absolutely sensational, scoring two goals to give Eddie Howe’s side their biggest win of the season so far.

Newcastle have now recorded back-to-back victories, scored nine goals in two games and are up to sixth in the table.

The Magpies’ good start has became a fantastic one over the past seven days, and Bruno has played a huge part in that.

He now appears to be fully fit again after his injury scare, and was absolutely dominant against Brentford. His new hair propelled him to glory, and his two goals were incredibly important.

The 24-year-old scored the opener with a clever header, then made it 3-1 early in the second half just moments after the Bees had clawed one back.

Bruno’s second changed the game, and he has been praised for his efforts by teammate Saint-Maximin.

Saint-Maximin on Bruno

After the game, Newcastle United’s official Twitter account posted a video of Bruno’s second goal. He can be seen battling to win back possession before cleverly finding the bottom corner from distance.

It was a wonderful goal – Newcastle’s best of the afternoon – and Saint-Maximin has responded to the tweet.

He simply wrote: “What a player.”

The Frenchman also included a love-heart and a drooling emoji, which perfectly sums up how we all feel about Bruno at Newcastle.

His goal was fantastic. The way Newcastle bullied the Brentford man and won back possession was sensational. Then it was all about Bruno.

He had plenty of options. There were runs from the likes of Callum Wilson and Joe Willock. But the Brazil international went himself, and in truth the goal was never in doubt.

Bruno always picks the right option, and that’s exactly what he did here.

Saint-Maximin previously spoke about Newcastle needing higher calibre players back in the Mike Ashley era. Now the ownership has changed and the 25-year-old is getting exactly what he wanted.

Newcastle’s number 39 is getting better and better, which is an incredible thought. The fact we signed him in January given where we were at the time is astounding.

Bruno makes his teammates better, and he must be a joy to play alongside. Saint-Maximin has that honour, and he clearly loves sharing a pitch with the £35million man.
