Newcastle United take on Brentford this weekend, and Toon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will be debuting a new haircut.
The Brazilian is almost certain to start at St James’ Park, having squashed injury fears last week by playing an hour against Fulham. With Newcastle coasting to victory, Eddie Howe was able to take him off early and preserve his fitness.
He has since took part in a full week of training, meaning he should be very close to being able to play the full 90 minutes this weekend.
Who he starts alongside is undecided. Joe Willock will surely play after his wonderful outing last weekend, then Howe has a choice to make between Joelinton and Sean Longstaff.
But whoever does play alongside Bruno might be blinded by his new hair.
New hair style for Bruno Guimaraes
It is a big week on Tyneside. It is the anniversary of the takeover being completed. The Brentford game will be one year and a day since it went through, and St James’ Park will be packed once again.
And it looks like Bruno has had his hair done for the occasion, alongside his friend and midfield partner Joelinton.
Both players have had their hair dyed. They will both be sporting white as their hair colour for the foreseeable future. They look like a pair of silver foxes, but hopefully they move a bit better on the pitch!
It is certainly an eye-catching look for Bruno and Joelinton. And it’s more eye-catching for the former given it has been a while since he brought an end to his blonde hair from last season. As for Joelinton, he has been continuing with the blonde. Perhaps it is the key to his newfound powers.
Will the new hair style make a difference for Bruno? Of course not – although it might annoy the elder statesmen of the game like Graeme Souness. We all remember his Paul Pogba inspired rants…
Bruno always stands out when he plays for Newcastle, and that will be even more true now that he has white hair. Those fans in Level Seven shouldn’t struggle to make him out.
