The Newcastle takeover has been dragging on for so long now, but there was a defiant message from Amanda Staveley yesterday.
There was also a light-hearted message from former Magpies defender Ryan Taylor.
Staveley said that she just needs to get the takeover of the club ‘over the wall’.
And Taylor took to Twitter to offer his assistance, because of course his famous Newcastle song was ‘Ryan Taylor, over the wall’ after he scored the winner against Sunderland.
Staveley said: “
“We are looking forward to welcoming you into St James’ Park and we’re looking forward to trying to get this transaction over the wall,” Staveley said.
“And it will do. We are all there, Mr Jordan. We are all passionate about Newcastle, all the consortium members are.”
Arbitration is set to take place this month, meaning a resolution shouldn’t be far away.
All the while, PIF are reportedly set to buy a stake in the UK-based McLaren group for £550million.

Hopefully there won’t be too much longer to wait before the takeover is ‘over the wall’.
But given the speed of progress so far, it’s anyone’s guess and nobody will quite believe it’s over until every last scrap of doubt is removed.
It’s good that Taylor was able to laugh about the situation and invoke memories of a derby win in the process.
