St James’ Park has become a fortress for Newcastle United in recent times.
The Magpies look unstoppable at the moment, but even more so at home. During their current winning run, three of the five Premier League games have been at St James’ Park, where they have scored 11 goals and conceded just twice.
A lot of their fortune comes from the 52,000 screaming Geordies inside the ground who prove to be an intimidating presence for any opponent.
Newcastle United players feed off the fans, which was evident after Nick Pope saved Eberechi Eze’s penalty during the win against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. The crowd were fired up and the Magpies scored three goals before half-time.
Bruno Guimaraes thanked the Newcastle fans for their noise after Wednesday’s win and called for the same levels of passion for the final six games of the Premier League season.
Although Newcastle are away from home on Saturday, that has not stopped one Premier League boss from heaping praise on the home support.

Thomas Frank’s claim about Newcastle United fans
Thomas Frank is known to be a very well-respected figure in the Premier League. The Dane has shown nothing but class since Brentford were promoted to the top-flight in 2021.
After their Carabao Cup defeat at St James’ Park, Frank said he hoped Newcastle would win the Carabao Cup. Thankfully for him and the Newcastle fans, his wish came true as the Magpies lifted their first domestic trophy since 1955.
Frank’s Brentford side felt the wrath of the fans inside St James’ Park earlier in April, when they were beaten 2-1 thanks to a goal from Alexander Isak and a sensational strike from midfielder Sandro Tonali.
While the crowd were electric during that game, Frank focused on a penalty call against Brentford which he believed should have resulted in a spot-kick.
The topic of best away days came up during Frank’s recent appearance on the Premier League’s Sticker Book series. He was given four options: St James’ Park, the Etihad Stadium, Old Trafford and Anfield.
On the fans at St James’ Park, Frank said: “Newcastle fans are probably the best on a regular basis.”
The Bees’ boss did ultimately pick Anfield as his best away day, but it is still an almighty compliment to the Newcastle fans.

Newcastle United fans must perform at Aston Villa
After two consecutive home games, the Magpies are back on the road. It will be Jason Tindall’s first game away from St James’ Park as he continues to fill in for Eddie Howe.
Newcastle take on Aston Villa on Saturday evening in what is a huge game in the race for Champions League football. Villa currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, just one point off Manchester City in fifth spot.

For Newcastle, they can move within a point of second-place Arsenal with a win, but must hope for a Gunners defeat to keep the gap low.
The fans will be aware how big this game is, other results could even see them go eight points clear of the Champions League spot with five games to go. Villa Park is not an easy place to go to this season, however, Unai Emery’s side has lost just once at home all season.
Alan Pardew warned Newcastle about Aston Villa, claiming it would not be an easy game by any means.
