Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards has provided an update on the future of Steve Bruce, but it’s not the news Newcastle fans will be hoping for.

For the past four games, Toon fans have chanted ‘we want Brucey out’. And despite not winning a single game this season, it still looks like Bruce is going nowhere.

The Magpies are 17th in the Premier League with three points on the board, drawing with Southampton, Leeds and Watford. Newcastle are one of five Premier League clubs without a win this season.

There have been claims in the Italian media that Bruce’s exit is around the corner with Gennaro Gattuso an option to replace him, but Edwards has shut down those rumours.

Steve Bruce update isn’t a shock

It’s no surprise that Bruce is going nowhere. While Newcastle didn’t win on Saturday at Watford, their performance was decent. They created a plethora of chances but failed to kill the game off.

Even if Newcastle had lost, it feels unlikely that Bruce would be under any pressure. The Toon boss is seemingly untouchable, no matter what goes wrong.

Mike Ashley continues to dance with death, happy to coast on by with the hope that the club won’t be his problem for much longer.

That’s a dangerous game, as there is no guarantee that a takeover will happen.

The past two games have been much more positive for Newcastle, but they are still yet to secure victory.

While the club don’t consider Bruce to be under pressure, it could all change next week if Newcastle fail to beat Wolves. Realistically though, he’s still going nowhere.
