A report by the Athletic has shared Joe Willock’s pre-match routine which gets him in the zone.
Willock was on fire on loan at Newcastle in the second half of last season and that means he’s a transfer target this summer.
They report that Willock ‘is a very spiritual person and has his own routine that begins with writing out what he wants to achieve in an upcoming game on the day before.’
It might not make sense to everyone but it certainly did the trick for Newcastle.

Buying Willock would give Newcastle’s summer a shot in the arm.
He took on much of the creative and goalscoring burden in the second part of last season.
It’s just whether he’s got a future at Arsenal and whether Newcastle can convince him to commit his future to them on a longer term basis.
Willock’s form was so good in the closing weeks of 2020/21 that it wouldn’t be a surprise if other Premier League clubs were keen.

The advantage Newcastle have there is that Willock knows the setup and has relationships with the players.
Willock and Allan Saint-Maximin exchanged Instagram messages earlier this week saying how much they miss each other.
Newcastle will hope that they will be back reunited by the start of next season.
And that Willock is writing down what he wants to achieve before Newcastle games in 2021/22.
