The soap opera continues at Newcastle, with fresh claims of a rift between Steve Bruce and some players ahead of tonight’s game vs Leeds.
It comes from the Daily Mail, who have once again reported a training ground bust-up. Last season it was between Matt Ritchie and Steve Bruce, now it’s Dwight Gayle and Graeme Jones.
The pair reportedly exchanged words this week, with captain Jamaal Lascelles being forced to diffuse the situation.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail have added that there is growing frustration among some players regarding the manager.
Bruce is under huge pressure right now. He’s yet to win this season, while fans inside the stadium have turned on him. He’s also been put in his place by the board, who released a fiery statement defending their transfer business.
Despite all of this, Bruce has insisted that he will not quit.
Bruce meeting angers some Newcastle players
According to the Daily Mail, Bruce held a meeting with the players on Tuesday, and angered some of them with his ‘misguided use of running statistics’. There is also reportedly frustration at the training schedule.
At a normal club, this would feel like the beginning of the end for the manger. But this is no normal club, this is Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United.
As Bruce said himself, his job is to keep the Magpies ‘ticking along’.
Another bad result against Leeds will pile even more pressure on the manager.
His aim is to keep the club in the Premier League, and at the moment he’s struggling. Newcastle have just one point and sit second bottom.
