Some Newcastle fans mock latest Steve Bruce comments

Steve Bruce has made some ridiculous comments during his time as Newcastle United manager.

How’s the bacon did you say?

While supporters are guilty of picking apart every word he says to the media, more often than not Bruce drops a clanger in his press conference.

And Thursday morning was no different. Bruce spoke to the media ahead of Friday night’s game against Leeds, which is already a must-win.

Pressure is mounting on the manager, with fans inside the stadium turning against him.

Newcastle haven’t won a single game this season, but Bruce has admitted that we were close on a couple of occasions. Or at least we were winning…

“We were 20 seconds away from beating Southampton, we were 2-1 up against West Ham & haven’t been able to see it through,” he said.

“There lies the frustration of course because we’re judged on results. We need a big performance on Friday and win the match.”

Wow, what an achievement.

We were 20 seconds away from beating Southampton, then gave away a shocking penalty. And even then, we didn’t deserve to win. It was almost laughable that we were moments away from victory.

As for the West Ham game, we were eventually outclassed by a much better team.

We were level for almost 45 minutes against Villa. We equalised against Manchester United.

But it doesn’t matter, because a game of football is 90 minutes. Very rarely during Bruce’s tenure have we produced a complete performance.

At the end of the day, all we have is one point. With the desperate situation we find ourselves in, Bruce celebrating winning momentarily in games is embarrassing.

Some Toon fans think as much, and have mocked the manager for his latest statement.
