Newcastle United were without Callum Wilson for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth due to injury, but the striker could return in time face Liverpool this weekend.
That is according to the Telegraph, who state that the 30-year-old should be available to face the Reds at St James’ Park on Saturday night.
For the third Premier League game in a row, the Magpies are playing at 5.30pm on a Saturday, and will welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to the North East for the final game before the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
Toon fans will give the players a perfect send off, but Eddie Howe has been left sweating over the fitness of various Toon attackers.
However, the Telegraph have reported that the Newcastle boss should have multiple key players available for the game against Liverpool.
Callum Wilson should be over hamstring injury by Saturday
After missing the draw with his former side Bournemouth due to a hamstring problem, the Telegraph believe that Wilson will be back to face Liverpool.
That leaves Howe with a big decision to make. He can either bring Wilson straight back into the side in place of Alexander Isak, persevere with the Swede and rest the number nine ahead of the cup final, or find a way to accommodate both players in the starting lineup.
It will be a difficult decision for Howe, who saw multiple players forced off with injury against the Cherries.
Miguel Almiron was forced off with a hand problem, but the Telegraph believe that he will be fine for Liverpool after early indications suggested he hadn’t broken any bones. He scored his 10th goal of the season on Saturday, and will now look to go on another run like the one he produced back in October.
It is also good news for Allan Saint-Maximin, who hasn’t suffered a muscle problem or any bone damage after he was withdrawn at the Vitality Stadium. That should mean he is available for Saturday’s Premier League clash at SJP.
