When Newcastle United last played Manchester United, they did not wear their famous black and white kit. However, they will in the Carabao Cup final.
That is according to the Times, who have reported that the Magpies will wear their home strip for the game at Wembley later this month.
Eddie Howe has guided Newcastle to a domestic final for the first time since 1999, and has the chance to end the club’s trophy drought that has gone on since 1969.
It is going to be a historic day in the capital for Toon fans, with thousands set to travel down south for the final whether they have a ticket or not.
A sea of black and white is set to descend on London, and they are the colours that Howe’s side will wear when they walk out at Wembley on February 26th.

Newcastle Carabao Cup final kit news is brilliant
The last time Newcastle faced Man United, they wore their away kit at Old Trafford. But not just any away kit – the white and green one that is very similar to the Saudi Arabia national kit.
The Castore jersey has received a lot of criticism since it was introduced, as it is seen as a very obvious nod to the Magpies’ controversial owners. PIF, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, own 80% of Newcastle United.
It felt likely that we would be wearing it at Wembley. However, the Times report that we will instead wear black and white.
That is brilliant news for multiple reasons. First of all and most importantly, of course we want to see our team wearing those famous stripes in the cup final. Pretty much every Toon fan in the stadium will be wearing black and white, and now so will the players.
But given the negative press towards the ‘Saudi kit’, it perhaps wouldn’t be a good look if we were finally able to end our trophy drought while donning such a controversial shirt.
While a lot of supporters are unfazed by the away shirt, everyone should be delighted that it will be the home jersey on February 26th.
It is good news for the superstitious supporters, as we have worn the green and white strip five times this season and are yet to win. That would not have been a good omen walking out at Wembley Stadium.
