Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin is currently out of action due to injury, and an update suggests it is worse than first feared.

Saint-Maximin missed Newcastle’s win over Brentford with a hamstring injury, and Howe later suggested that the 26-year-old could miss a couple of weeks of action.

It came at a terrible time for Maxi, on the back of two brilliant performances against Manchester United and West Ham. It looked like the Frenchman was getting back to his best, before being struck down by another injury setback.

The Toon number 10 told fans that he will be back soon following the news, but an update from Newcastle World suggests that he will be out of action for longer than anticipated.

Latest Saint-Maximin injury could keep him out for six weeks

According to Newcastle World, Saint-Maximin is going to be missing for the next four to six weeks with this hamstring problem.

That is a major blow at a crucial point in the season, with Eddie Howe looking to guide Newcastle into the Champions League.

He will have been delighted by Saint-Maximin’s upturn in form, and recently described him as an ‘integral‘ player. However, he will now have to look elsewhere for creativity in attack.

It makes the timing of Miguel Almiron’s return to fitness even better, with the 29-year-old back in full training after a thigh problem. He has recovered two weeks earlier than anticipated, and will hopefully be available to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

But Saint-Maximin is set to miss out, as his torrid season takes another hit. While it has been a sensational campaign for Newcastle, it has been a difficult one for ASM. He has struggled to stay fit, and just as he was starting to excel he has been struck down by another injury.

Hopefully we can see Saint-Maximin at his scintillating best before the season ends, ahead of a summer where his future will be up in the air once again.
