Allan Saint-Maximin has delivered an injury update to Newcastle United fans after missing the game against Brentford.
When the Newcastle team to face to Bees was announced at 2pm, Saint-Maximin was nowhere to be seen.
He was taken out of the starting XI alongside Callum Wilson, but while the striker’s absence was tactical, the decision not to include Maxi was enforced.
The 26-year-old missed the game at the Gtech Community Stadium due to a hamstring injury, and was replaced by Joe Willock. That then allowed Joelinton to play on the left of attack.
Losing Saint-Maximin was a real blow, and he has provided an update on his recovery via social media.

Allan Saint-Maximin hoping to return from injury ‘soon’
Following the announcement that he was missing the trip to Brentford, Saint-Maximin took to his official Instagram account to send a message to supporters.
Alongside a picture of him working on his recovery, he wrote: “I will be back soon.”
Hopefully that proves to be the case, as Saint-Maximin has started to become more and more influential. He got assists in the wins over Manchester United and West Ham, and has received a lot of praise from manager Eddie Howe. He would have been full of confidence up against the Bees, but was unfortunately unable to feature.
He has suffered another injury, in what is proving to be a frustrating campaign for the Toon number 10. He has now missed eight games this season, and has only been able to start 11 times.
Ideally, this latest injury will not keep Saint-Maximin out for too long. The Magpies are next in action on Saturday afternoon, facing Aston Villa at Villa Park in the early kickoff.
Given how much Newcastle struggled offensively in the first half against Brentford, Howe will be keen to get Saint-Maximin back fit as soon as possible.
