Newcastle United were missing Allan Saint-Maximin through injury for the trip to Brentford yesterday with the winger posting an image on his Instagram reel saying “I’ll be back soon”.
Allan Saint-Maximin has been in superb form for Newcastle in the last couple of games so this injury couldn’t have come for a worse time for him as the mercurial Frenchman finds himself on the treatment table again this season.
Eddie Howe spoke after Newcastle‘s 2-1 victory over Brentford and added a bit of context to Saint-Maximin’s social media update, telling The Shields Gazette: “I don’t think it’s serious with Allan,” Howe admitted. “He didn’t feel 100% during the West Ham game, so we decided to scan him.
Saint-Maximin says he will be ‘back soon’ for Newcastle after latest injury
“It wasn’t a clear injury, but we decided to scan him, and it revealed a minor problem with his hamstring, so we knew, pretty much straight away, that he wasn’t going to be available for this game, so maybe a couple of weeks [out]. I’m guessing slightly, but nothing too serious.

“That was a big blow, because of the form that Allan’s been in. Again, we back the strength of the squad.”
The £20million winger was just starting to remind Newcastle fans of what made him so popular. His pace and trickery and an end product. It had been a while since we’d seen all three used effectively, but in the last two games he’d shown us that he’s still got it.
Now it seems that the injury will definitely keep Saint-Maximin out of Newcastle’s clash with Aston Villa trip but could be back at St James’ Park for Tottenham on 23rd April.
Maxi has spent a lot of time out through injury this season
ASM has spent a lot of time on the treatment table this season and has often failed to impress upon his return, so it’s key for him that he stays fit and gets as much game time as he can to ensure his future lies at Newcastle beyond this season.
To be honest, it’s a miracle he can pick up any injuries given how heavily strapped up he is when takes to the pitch. Part man, part bandage.
Hopefully Maxi makes a quick recovery and can pick up where he left off at West Ham and help Newcastle cement that third place finish and Champions League football next season. That competition is made for players like him and I’d love to see him get his chance to shine on the continent.
