After leaving Newcastle this summer, Andy Carroll finally has a new club.
The forward has joined Reading on short-term deal, agreeing a two-month contract with the Royals.
Carroll’s departure from Newcastle was somewhat subdued. The club didn’t even confirm that he had left.
But that was back in the Mike Ashley era when communication was considered a dirty word.

While Carroll’s second Toon exit was nowhere near as dramatic as his first, his second spell with the club was rather underwhelming.
The local lad scored just once, a consolation in defeat to Leicester back in January. While injuries weren’t that much of a problem, minutes were still hard to come by for Carroll.
The 32-year-old will be hoping to make a bigger impact at Reading, as he prepares to play in the Championship for the first time since 2010. He scored 17 league goals as Newcastle won the title.
But that was a long time ago.

However, it looks like AC has still got it. Reading have released a clip from Carroll’s first training session, and the fans are buzzing with what they’ve seen.
The former England international is seen curling a glorious shot into the top corner – something he hasn’t done too often competitively in recent years.
He may get his first chance in a Reading shirt on Saturday, when the Royals face Nottingham Forest.
If Carroll can do what he did in training in a competitive game, Reading fans will be even more excited than they already are about their latest signing.
