Andy Carroll has finally joined a new club after leaving Newcastle United in the summer, linking up with Reading.
The striker has moved to the Championship side, and will be looking to help the Royals push up the table after an average start.
He joins on a short-term contract until mid-January.
Presumably if he impresses, he will extend his stay at the Madejski Stadium.
Speaking about his latest signing, manager Veljko Paunovic said: “This is a deal which we have been working on for some time and are confident it is the right move for both player and club.
“Andy is looking for a new challenge in his career and we need a player with his quality and vast experience! So this is a great match.”
Reading have a number of forwards out injured at the moment.
Junior Hoilett, Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite are all sidelined.
So Carroll could be set for a semi-regular role, as the games come thick and fast over Christmas. That’s providing he stays fit, of course.
He’ll perhaps be looking to show why he should have been offered a new contract by Newcastle. Interestingly, he did actually claim in a recent interview that he in the top four trainers at the club, and that he was generally fit throughout his second spell.
After two years with the club, the 32-year-old kind of left St. James’ Park out the back door following the expiry of his contract.
Strangely, there was never an official announcement about his exit.
