There wasn’t much for Newcastle United fans to cheer for on Monday evening.
The Magpies put on a disappointing performance at St James’ Park as they lost 2-0 to a struggling West Ham side.
A victory would have lifted Newcastle United to just one point from third place, but instead they have slumped to 10th in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe insisted there were two ‘massive’ positives from the West Ham defeat, but supporters were frustrated as they left St James’ Park.
Most Newcastle players were far from their best with fans irritated with Anthony Gordon for his wasteful display. But there was one moment of brilliance from club captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Bruno Guimaraes ‘absolutely outstanding’ moment vs West Ham
Just as it seemed Eddie Howe had discovered his strongest midfield, the trio of Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Guimaraes looked disjointed against West Ham.
Of the midfield trio, Guimaraes was the standout with the Brazil international working hard and putting in some important tackles.
Guimaraes was unlucky to not pick up an assist after brilliantly winning the ball back before floating a pinpoint pass to Alexander Isak in the box.
Unfortunately, Isak fluffed his lines and wasted the chance, but Andy Hinchcliffe was quick to praise Guimares for his “absolutely outstanding” work.
As quoted by BBC Sport, Hinchcliffe said: “Guimaraes’ work is absolutely outstanding to win the ball and then the vision.
“The first touch is good from Isak but then he is falling away and it’s a hard chance and even he can’t get it on target.”
Bruno Guimaraes now an injury doubt at Newcastle
Guimaraes was certainly one of Newcastle’s better players against the Hammers on Monday but he may now be missing for the weekend clash against Crystal Palace.
Willock and Guimaraes came off due to injury which has left Howe with some big choices to make in midfield.

Just hours after the full-time whistle, Guimaraes addressed his injury with a social media post where he said he hoped it wasn’t a serious setback. It seems fans will have to wait to find out.
If Guimaraes is out for the Palace clash, Sandro Tonali could be recalled to the starting lineup while Lewis Miley could also compete for a starting spot.
